Follow the Money

There seems to be a great deal of cash floating around Everett City Hall. Rumors of salaries to rival the private sector; insinuations of behind the curtain back room deals being made; and basic speculation that the city is up for sale under the new administration. Much to the consternation of many voters, the Mayor has remained mum on all these issues. Therefore, since the Mayor will not dimiss nor confirm the information flying about, the best we can do is keep record of it and see if the information or speculation proves founded in the future.

One that note, all I can say is "Follow the money"..............

Did you notice that during the introduction of our new Budget Director (BOA meeting, before agenda - source: on ECTV) that several things seemed amiss? Why was the Chief of Staff introducing the new Budget Director and why was the Mayor noticeably absent during this coming out party? Ms. Deveney offered the Board a chance to ask our new $100,000+ per year Budget Director and they all remained silent. Hmmmmm, curious it is. I'd at least like to know what justifies doubling the salary of the previous budget director to retain a man who left his last job under a bit of a cloud (source: google Clayton Carlisle insubordination and view results). It seems to me, that several questions have been left hanging in the air on that one.

Here is my short list that I would like to add to your "Doughboy Chronicals," in no particular order.

Candidate DeMaria's acceptance of a hefty campaign contribution from Mr William Thibeault.

Mayor DeMaria's willingness to do business with Mr Thibeault even though Mr Thibeault has the City of Everett in litigation.

The hiring of an Assistant City Solicitor from the law firm that represents Mr Thibeault.

The hiring of Clayton Carlisle as Budget Director at a hefty salary, even after Mr Carlisle was charged with gross insubordination in the Town of Southbridge. By the way, Mr Carlisle was akey factor in Southbridge's controversial landfill issue. The people of Southbridge are now stuck with a larger dump for the next 29 years. Mr Carlisle has now moved on to the City of Everett, where we have a waste transfer station issue. Is it a coincidence? You be the judge.

The hiring of the Mayor's Assistant at a huge salary. Since when do the employees make more that the boss? I don't believe it has ever happened at City Hall before.

The firing of our Veterans Service Officer, Mr Rice, who has still not been replaced.

The issue of Mr Brandano and the rotary, with the speculation that it was a political payback.

The issue of the Everett Fire Department's "Reserve List." Pay attention to the names that get hired.

The re-hiring of Speaker Keverian, rumor has it that Speaker of the House DiMasi spoke to Mayor DeMaria on this issue. Personally, I am glad Speaker Keverian is back at City Hall.

I know there are more issues, please feel free to add to this list.

Like the man said, "Follow the Money."

The Mayor's Chief of Staff seems to be doing a great deal of speaking for Mayor DeMaria. I personally would rather hear from the Mayor himself. I want to hear his thoughts and opinions from his own mouth. Then there will be no misunderstanding on how the Mayor feels about the issues facing Everett.

Love the Blog! I have been living in the City of Everett all my life and never even under John McCarthy was there ever a Mayor that was as under handed as this Mayor. From Wood Waste to selling property to friends to dishing out large salaries to employees and letting others go Remember this from his website "Now, Carlo is running for Mayor to help create a city that will benefit every resident in Everett. He wants to put the devisive politics behind us so that...together...we can make Everett the kind of city we all deserve." WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL****
